Sheila del Bosque Fuentes

Music Director & Conductor

Sheila del Bosque Fuentes is a multi-award-winning Cuban conductor, composer, flutist, and educator recognized for her dynamic leadership, innovative programming, and commitment to cross-genre orchestral collaboration. She currently serves as a conductor with YOLA (Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles) and as founder of The New Way Orchestra, an initiative dedicated to redefining the boundaries of classical music.

Her trajectory includes prestigious Conducting Fellowships with the Orchestra of the Americas (as a Carlos Miguel Prieto Fellow), the National Orchestral Institute and Festival (NOI+F) under Marin Alsop, the National Arts Centre Orchestra under Alexander Shelley, and the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music under Cristian Măcelaru.

Previous orchestral leadership includes serving as Assistant Conductor of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra and collaborating as a guest conductor with the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile.

Sheila holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Berklee College of Music in Conducting, Film Scoring, and Performance, which she completed on a full-tuition scholarship. Beyond the podium, she is a Haynes Artist, a faculty member at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and the former Chair of the Jazz Committee for the National Flute Association.
